Grandmanor Apartment
Built in 1909 as a single family home, one of the original row of homes left on 3rd street. The upper floors where one of many local residences used by 'working girls' and frequented by the men in the early 1900s who worked mostly in the ship yards. During the prohibition era, the garden level and basement was used for distilling and gambling, by way of the back door. With storys of children paid in pennies to guard the door if there was any police in the alley. This 3 story Edwardian home was Renovated in the early 1950s to make 6 cozy suites used for the men coming home from the war and the workers at the ship yards.The outside of the home is still in its original Edwardian condition and remains one of the four original heritage homes left intact. The Grand Manor Apartments are decorated in 1950’s décor. It is a great place to meet new friend or meet up with family.

Centrally located in the Lower Lonsdale Area. Shopping and all amenities are within walking distance. The sea bus is within walking distance and downtown in fifteen-minutes. Bus stops just out side the house. Close to the marine institute, Lions gate Hospital, and minutes to the local North Shore mountains. Twenty-minutes to Horseshoe bay and 1 ½ hours to Whistler.

Directions: To get here from Vancouver, go along Broadway to Rupert (Cassier tunnel) , then north over the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge and take the 2nd right over the bridge onto Main street. Main turns into third. ½ block east of Lonsdale Avenue on the north side is a big green building, The Grandmanor Apartment.
